Dr. William P. Caldon, D.M.D., co-owner of Plattsburgh’s High Peaks Dental, explains that contrary to what some new parents think, dentists recommend bringing new babies into the office as soon as their teeth start coming in.
Plattsburgh, NY — Feb 27, 2015 — Renowned Plattsburgh dentist Dr. William Caldon published a new blog post entitled “When Is It Time to Bring a New Baby to the Dentist?” In the post, he discusses the importance of bringing babies into the dentist starting with their very first tooth, not just to gauge oral health, but also to habituate them to oral hygiene practices.
Says Caldon, “Today, dentists recommend that parents bring their new child into the office sometime between the first tooth and the first birthday. If you’ve been diligent about brushing, flossing, and avoiding sugars, there’s a little bit of leeway. But for most parents, it’s still a good idea to come in on or before baby’s first birthday regardless, just to make sure you’re on a good track.”
Dr. Caldon has been a co-owner of High Peaks Dental since 1996 after serving in the United States Air Force for 20 years and retiring as a Colonel. He received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Louisville and his Bachelor’s from Thomas More College. In 2013, USA Today featured Caldon as one of America’s Premier Dentists.
